Incidence rate of Sinonasal Malignancy in Western Province of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract
Abstract: Our study uses the population based the data in this surveillance and epidemiology survey collected from both clinical and histological records registered by the histopathology department of various referral hospitals and investigated by the chronological tests. These sinonasal malignancies have uncommon prognosis and, due to rare specific symptoms most of the patients has been late diagnosed when sinonasal malignancies is at the stage of advanced. Sinonasal malignancies will grow by size before presentation, and deep therapy has to be given in the close areas to the skull base, orbits, cranial nerves, and vital blood vessels. Materials and Methods: In this surveillance and epidemiology study carried out in our college department of Otolaryngology and histopathology, the data was collected from the various hospitals in the Western Province of KSA over 10 years period from 2000 to 2010 and its extracted from database which contains 43 cases of sinonasal malignancies growth. This study was conducted and approved by the research committee of our institution. All cases were fully scrutinized including of their history, endoscopy of their head and neck tests, computer based imaging and histopathological tests. Details of clinical data, tests, radiological and histopathological findings were registered and data was analyzed by IBM SPSS version 20. Results: The sum of 43 cases found in western province of KSA, the overall the crude incidence rate calculated by 100,000 populations per year. Including 26 (60.5%) male and 17 (39.5%) female patients with mean age of 52.80 years. Conclusion: The prognosis of patients with sinonasal malignancies cancer is very low rate due to their undetermined symptoms and subsequently won't change for the past 3 decades. Also sinonasal malignancies are diagnosis at the later stage; most of the patients are male with age of above 40.
